Ankle sprains happen when one or of the ligaments in your ankle is torn, either completely or partially, and most commonly on the outside of the ankle. These sprains are generally caused by a sudden, accidental overstretch in the form of a twist, turn or roll of the foot, for example in the attempt to regain balance during a fall. The pain, reduced flexibility and instability can continue for months without proper management, so it is especially prudent to seek early advice.
Early treatment will focus on pain management to promote the swift return of total movement before advancing to incorporate soft tissue massage, remobilisation of rigid joints and strengthening rehabilitation routines. Whether you are returning to competitive sports or simply walking from A to B, we will create a regimen specific to your individual requirements.
